ROI-EFESO provides perspectives on industrial sustainability

The current Lünendonk Magazine focuses on corporate responsibility as the key to sustainable business success. The focus is on the digitalization of industry and the industrial circular economy, as well as on the success factors for implementing ESG strategies. In the magazine, experts from ROI-EFESO share current insights and their know-how in the development and implementation of industrial sustainability.

Circular Economy as a critical competitive factor

Hans-Georg Scheibe, Managing Director of ROI-EFESO, discusses the major issues and challenges in implementing sustainability strategies with representatives from industry. On the one hand, many companies are already working intensively on Industrial Sustainability and implementing specific projects, e.g. in the Product portfolio, in factory planning or in the area of circular economy. Other companies are still at the beginning of the journey and are in the process of building awareness within the company, sensitizing employees and developing a sustainability road map. Hans-Georg Scheibe describes in the interview that sustainability is less a cost factor than a driver for extensive improvements and long-term competitive advantages.

Closing The Loop - How Industrial Companies Build The Loop

In this guest article, Tim Ballenberger, Senior Consultant at ROI-EFESO, shows that the transformation to a circular economy is necessary to avert the climate crisis and create new growth in times of dwindling resources. However, many industrial companies find it difficult to use existing products and raw materials for longer and thus to enter the circular economy. The article gives examples of how companies can break out of the old "take - make - use - lose" pattern. One key is the step-by-step development of circular business models with which companies can, for example, reduce dependencies on primary raw materials, generate positive impulses for the company and tap into sustainable sources of revenue.

The digital factory as the key to sustainable production

In order to reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions and continue to produce competitively, companies must consistently implement the Factory of the Future, says Monika Eglseer, Head of Knowledge Management at ROI-EFESO, in her guest article. Digitization and automation of industrial processes are already leveraging great potential in the factory and in the group of companies. More and more companies are also turning to sustainable concepts for energy supply. In the future, the industrial network in which a company is integrated will become even more important, says Eglseer. It shows that the digital sustainability twin is the central steering tool for optimizing the balance sheet in terms of environmental, social and governance aspects.
