An energy scan is an analysis to identify potential energy savings in industrial plants or production processes. In the chemical industry, it serves as an important first step in deriving targeted measures to increase efficiency.
Typically, an energy scan comprises the collection and evaluation of energy consumption data, technical systems, thermodynamic systems (e.g. steam generation or heat recovery) and process parameters. The aim is to detect so-called “energy hotspots”, identify unnecessary losses and derive specific recommendations for action, both for short-term optimizations and for strategic investments.
