Explanation: Layout Planning

Layout planning refers to the systematic process of designing and arranging equipment, workstations, and material flows within a company’s site. The goal is to structure production and logistics processes in a way that minimizes distances, reduces lead times, lowers costs, and at the same time enhances flexibility and workplace safety.

The focus is on the optimal use of space, taking into account functional, ergonomic, and economic aspects. Layout planning is typically part of plant or factory planning projects and is supported by modern planning software, simulations, or virtual models. Depending on the planning stage, a distinction is made between rough and detailed layouts.
