Plant-on-demand is a production concept in which factory systems are controlled in a flexible, modular and data-driven manner so that they can adapt to changing order situations, product variants and market requirements in real time. The aim is to start production “on demand”, i.e. exactly as required, and only use resources when they are actually needed.
Features include end-to-end digitalization, highly networked machines, adaptive planning systems and the use of artificial intelligence and real-time data analysis. The concept enables shorter response times, lower stock levels, more individualization and better use of resources.
