Explanation: SKUs (Stock Keeping Units)

SKUs are unique identifiers for individual products or product variants in warehouse, logistics and ERP systems. They are used to clearly distinguish items from one another, for example by size, color, packaging unit or product variant.

Thanks to the fine-grained identification, SKUs enable precise inventory management, efficient tracking and meaningful analyses in purchasing, logistics or sales. However, a high number of SKUs can lead to complexity in the supply chain, which is why SKU optimization is a key issue in inventory and product range management.
