Newsletter #01/2023 – Leading Sustainability Transformation

The reduction of the ecological footprint and the sustainable orientation of one’s own value creation activities have been among the top priorities for industrial companies worldwide not only since 2023. Massively rising energy prices, legal requirements or their own sustainability goals are forcing companies to act.

An impressive example of the sustainable transformation of the company’s own business model is provided by the transformation of the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, for which ROI-EFESO was recently awarded the Best of Consulting Award in the Sustainability category. The renowned prize has been awarded since 2010 by WirtschaftsWoche in cooperation with the Federal Association of German Management Consultants and AIMC and honors the best consulting projects of the year.

Read in the current newsletter how one of the world’s largest industrial ports is transforming itself into one of the leading ecosystems for sustainable energy, what success factors are needed to implement such ambitious sustainability initiatives, and how industrial companies are making the leap to the circular economy.

AWARD-WINNING TRANSFORMATION: From Europe's Industrial Port to Green Energy Hub

With an annual cargo throughput of almost 300 million tons, Antwerp-Bruges is Europe’s second largest port and Belgium’s economic engine. In line with EU climate targets, the port has set itself an ambitious goal: By 2030, C02 emissions are to be reduced by 50%, and by 2050 the port wants to be climate neutral. Find out which measures have already been implemented to achieve this and how Antwerp-Bruges is to become the European center for green hydrogen in just a few years in the portrait on our website.
