Explanation: APQP

APQP is a structured methodology with standardised tools (FMEAQFD, QM plan, etc.) which focuses on the idea of preventive error avoidance and continuous improvement in contrast to reactive troubleshooting. The time sequence, the application of the tools and the execution of the individual steps vary per product and complexity.
The APQP reference book was created by the Chrysler, Ford, General Motors Supplier Quality Requirements Task Force. It provides a guide for the early planning phase, development phase up to process analysis and thus provides a policy for creating plans and checklists to ensure that product quality planning is carried out by the supplier.
