Explanation: Functional Food

The term "functional food" refers to foods that go beyond basic nutritional functions and have been proven to promote health. They generally contain specific ingredients such as vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, probiotic bacteria or certain bioactive compounds. Functional food is therefore intended to have a positive effect on specific bodily functions or aspects of health, for example by strengthening the immune system or lowering cholesterol levels.
