Explanation: Greenfield

In an industrial context, the term "greenfield" is used for new, undeveloped areas or sites that are intended for the construction of plants, factories or infrastructure projects. Greenfield projects generally offer the advantage of a flexible starting situation: companies can plan their infrastructure / facilities from scratch and design them in such a way that they improve the efficiency of their operational processes.

In contrast to the term "greenfield", the term "brownfield" is used for sites that have already been used or converted.
