Explanation: Pinch analysis

A “pinch analysis” is a method for improving energy efficiency and optimizing resources. It is used by industrial companies in the context of energy management and process integration, for example in refineries, power plants or chemical industry plants. The energy flow within a system is analyzed in order to identify “pinch points” where the energy exchange between the process flows can be improved. The aim is to minimize energy consumption without compromising process requirements.
