Technological innovations and new markets open up various opportunities for industrial goods manufacturers to optimize their value chains: For mass and series production, for example, automation, standardized processes, and modular production systems can potentially increase efficiency. Additionally, many high-volume manufacturers are not yet using the full potential of digitalization to reduce costs in R&D, procurement, production, and customer service. At the same time, demand for their standardized products in international markets is rising.

For producers of specialized industrial goods, high responsiveness and adaptability to individual customer requirements remain critical to success. Industry leaders are improving their balance sheet and competitive position with additional services, like product maintenance or engineering support. They also realize premium prices and build long-term customer relationships in niche markets where quality, precision, and innovative strength are crucial.

In cooperation with EFESO, viable strategies and results-oriented solutions are developed for both groups. We focus on the following industrial goods segments:

1. Motors, drives, and gearboxes
Manufacturers of motors, drives, and transmissions for industrial applications are confronted with several market changes: strict environmental regulations, disruptive technologies and a massive shift towards electrification and digital services require rapid responses.

Some established industry giants are already setting new solution standards, such as electrification, hybrid solutions, or environmentally friendly drive technologies. However, the key challenge is to ensure sustainable growth while investing heavily in technologies that maintain competitiveness. Increasing the number of variants in the Product portfolio - and at the same time accelerating the pace of innovation - can prove to be a successful model.

2. Hydraulic and pneumatic components
Electrification, digitalization, and efficiency characterize this market segment. The tasks and topics arise from the respective specialization of the companies. Three market categories should be mentioned here:

  • Standard and finished components: Manufacturers of hoses, seals, and valves rely on availability, efficient processes, and optimized supply chains. At the same time, the manufacture of mass products is often subject to substantial cost and price pressure.
  • Configured and customized solutions: Companies that manufacture pumps, cylinders, or modular systems must balance standardization and individualization. Their focus is on reliability, adaptability, and the balance between quality, performance, and costs.
  • Highly specialized solutions: Providers for industries such as aerospace and offshore rely on future technologies, such as sensor technology and AIEfficiency and sustainability are key issues in asserting oneself in an environment characterized by barriers to market entry.

3. Electronics, electrics, and industrial hardware

There are growth opportunities for manufacturers of electronic, electrical, and computer components for use in industry. The digitalization, automation, and networking of production facilities are driving the industry's demand for intelligent control systems, sensor technology, and individual hardware solutions. These enable rapid modernization of brownfield plants, in which different generations of machines and systems are networked with each other.

At the same time, demand is increasing for modular, individually configured machine and system solutions for greenfield projects in growth markets such as Asia, South America, and the Middle East. Suppliers of industrial electronics that operate globally can benefit from the need for modernization, investment programs, and government subsidies from there and in other regions.

Balancing cost pressure. Strengthen competitive position. Shaping the future.

Consolidate and expand competitive position in the industrial goods market

Shape your company's future today with EFESO.As a leading consultancy for Industrial Operations and Performance Excellence, we are your global partner for achieving clear success in a challenging market environment.

Together, we identify the opportunities in your company and your market. We then develop suitable ways to improve business processes, optimize cost structures, and offer customer-centric solutions. In doing so, we establish the efficient use of future-oriented technologies, combine digitalization and sustainability initiatives, and harmonize R&D investments for new and existing products.

The focal points of our cooperation can be:

  • Adjusting business strategy: definition of new target markets, taking into account, e.g., innovation, delivery, and response capability of the functional areas in the company; ACTUAL and TARGET analysis of the Product portfolio about the requirements of the addressed markets.
  • Increasing operational performance: improving the operational footprint in areas of activity such as the manufacturing footprint, purchasing, or supply chain management; aligning the corporate organization with Operational Excellence (OPEX) and Next Gen OPEX, to identify and quickly realize economic potential.
  • Realizing digitalization / Industrial IoT: development and operationalization of digital strategies; use of AI to improve performance; design and implementation of smart factories; implementation of initiatives and programs for digital transformation, also about forms of cooperation, culture, and organization, as well as the development of new skills in the workforce.
  • Utilizing Cost Value Engineering: increase profitability with a set of proven technologies and methods for product cost optimization, for example, in the context of design to cost, design for sustainability, complexity management, or modularization.

CASE STUDIES & INSIGHTS - PRACTICAL EXAMPLES

CASE STUDY:

An automotive supplier improved the transparency of work and organizational processes in a production plant for dashboards. With a "Digital Process Twin" from EFESO, the company reduced the reject rate and made improvement potentials in its value creation networks visible.

CASE STUDY:

An automotive supplier harmonizes production planning and control in ten factory locations around the world. With EFESO, the company develops a suitable solution concept for a suitable software solution. This enables a standardization of the planning process and thus more flexibility and efficiency. Likewise, a long-term capacity planning of the plant group can be carried out in the new software.
